The mission of the Alexandria Museum of Art is to preserve, exhibit and promote visual art throughout central Louisiana in a way that contributes to the quality of life. To accomplish this, we educate, in order to advance the public’s knowledge of and appreciation for the value of art as a source of beauty, inspiration, information and expression.

    A unique, community-engaged exhibition comprised of portrait paintings capturing communities
    throughout the U.S., including new portraits of individuals living in the local greater Alexandria
    community! Demonstrating his commitment to engaging communities through art, Ray
    Turner visited Alexandria in November in preparation for his exhibition and taught drawing
    classes to youth at the J.S. Slocum Learning Center and the Youth Challenge Program at Camp
    Beauregard, as well as women and children at the Hope House of Central Louisiana.

    March 1-May 11, 2013


    Three Louisiana artists, Shawn Hall, Lee Deigaard, and Natchitoches-native Colin O’Con, create entire room installations to explore elements of created space and invite contemplation about our relationship with the natural world. Painting, drawing, and photography installed as part of a larger, sculpture space, create rhythm in an immersive environment where emotional space and physical landscape merge.

In the AMoA Gift Shop all items are handmade and hand selected by Tommy and Karen Faulk, managers of the shop.  Come in and browse, take your time and look at the variety of new works and just enjoy. Reward yourself and the artist by selecting just the perfect gift for any occasion or treat yourself and your home to something special.


Remember all original art is TAX-FREE in the Downtown Cultural Arts District.
