Make our events a success as a Special Events Volunteer! Help to plan, set-up, decorate, staff, and breakdown special events and fundraisers at the museum; tasks include coordinating logistics, soliciting silent auction items, serving food or drink, and interacting with guests.

    Fundraising/Fund Development

Support the staff in raising the necessary funds for exhibitions and educational programs! You can assist with mailings, data entry, grant research, and calling museum members to thank them for their financial support (no direct solicitation necessary).

    Community Programs & Events

Be the friendly face that greets and welcomes visitors to our special events! You can be the helpful source who provides information about the museum and its many outstanding programs. By manning our booths and tables and interacting with the public, you will be able spread AMoA’s image and cultural awareness in the community.

    Marketing

Help AMoA connect with the local community by reaching out to different audiences! You can represent the museum at various local events like the City’s Summer Splash, The Rapides Parish Fair, The Celebration of Philanthropy, and other great events that promote Central Louisiana’s attractions and economy. By spreading  the word about our upcoming exhibitions, programs and events via flyers and posters, you will be helping draw a more diverse crowd to AMoA. You can also help keep the public informed of all the museum has to offer by assisting with our calendar listings and database of contacts.

    Studio/Classroom Assistant

Come help our art educators inspire artists of the future. If you love kids and art, you are the perfect fit to assist our educators with Family Classes, Second Saturday Art Activities, Summer Art Camp and other art making events.

    Teen Mentor or Chaperone

Have a blast while helping to mold the next generation of artists and thinkers, by sharing your skills with our teen club, The Muse, as a mentor. You can also simply come and lend a hand as a chaperone for workshops and events. You’ll get to join in the fun and make sure everyone has a safe, enjoyable time.

    Gallery Guide

Bring art to life for museum visitors by being a gallery guide. You will learn to conduct tours, using a variety of fun and engaging methods. Training for museum tours will be provided, throughout the year.

Administrative Assistant:  Lend a hand by helping with clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, preparing mail outs or other similar tasks.

Visitor Services:  Be our visitors’ first welcome to our museum experience!  Introduce visitors to the current exhibitions and share information and publications about our current and upcoming classes, events and programs.  Enjoy the interaction with current members and introduce non-members to our membership programs.  You may want to use your experience to assist our front desk operations by manning the desk, answering phones, recording gift shop purchases and running the cash register and credit card machine while employees are busy with other tasks or out of the office.

    Art Handling

Be the first one to see the art in the new exhibitions – unpacking crates and unwrapping artwork is like opening a gift for the community!  Learn various techniques and get new ideas for hanging and displaying art, help spackle and paint the galleries to prepare for the next exhibitions, hang labels for each artwork, and receive training on how to handle and care for art.

    Gardens & Grounds

Outside the Museum is just as important as inside the Museum! Outdoor lovers and gardeners are welcome to help with pruning, weeding, and watering of gardens and shrubs; cleaning windows; and maintenance of our outdoor sculptures.

    Bi-lingual Interpretation

Translate labels and signs into audio guides and other multimedia educational materials to help the Museum serve the needs of visitors with physical or mental difficulties as well as diverse cultures or ages within our community. Whether you are interested in translating written or verbal materials, we could use your help to continuously improve Museum accessibility and expand outreach to various audiences.  Those of you with technological experience or interest in researching and learning could also be a great asset in helping us discover new ways to create multimedia and interactive experiences for our visitors!

    Gallery Attendant

Safeguard the artwork on display by maintaining a presence in the galleries when the Museum is open to the public. Ensure visitors adhere to Museum rules regarding photography, food and beverages, and staying a safe distance away from the artworks, and help educate visitors on the reasons behind our policies. Learn safety and risk management procedures to be prepared and get a behind-the-scenes perspective at the daily operations of the Museum!
