Professional Development Workshop
Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS)
at The Alexandria Museum of Art
Thursday, June 7, 2012
10:00 am- 3:30 pm
VTS is a literacy based teaching method that uses visual art to help
students develop critical thinking, verbal and writing skills, while building
confidence and engaging every student.
The workshop at the Alexandria Museum of Art will teach you how to use
VTS and provide you with images, writing prompts and project ideas to use
in your classroom with various subjects. You will also gain CLUs for this
workshop. Look for us soon on Coursewhere!
Why should we use VTS in the classroom?
Longitudinal studies done in public schools, both in the United States and
abroad, prove that VTS increases growth in reading, writing and math
skills, while promoting cooperation and understanding among students and
tolerance for the ideas of others. It is an easy, fun and effective way to
boost test scores and student confidence.
There will be a $20 registration fee for the workshop.
